  • Amazon Onenote: A Onenote Guide To Onenote 2016, Using

Microsoft really needs to add the camera option to OneNote 2016. I have been asking for it for years, not that I am an important user to them, and they always reply with some lame excuse. I prefer using the desktop version because it has more features, but at some point when I find a good replacement for it, I will send OneNote to the curb. What irks me the most is that I deal with lots of STEM students all the time, and I always steer them towards a Surface loaded with OneNote to get organized and I am not feeling that compelled to do that anymore because the Camera option is not there. And, please don't get me started on the Math Add-In that is not available for Office 2016. Come on Redmond, get it right. As for why OneNote needs to have the camera option.

I can point to one VERY IMPORTANT example: Taking a picture of a handout/homework assignment and working on it directly in OneNote without a fuss. For now, I have to open the camera app in Windows, take the picture, crop it with the Photo App, and then go back to OneNote to insert. What a waste of time.JJM OneNote user since the first version came out a bazillion years ago.

I can do this on my Lumia 925, why not on my Surface? This is surely an essential feature for:. Students taking notes at university or college. Anyone attending a conference. Anyone out an about shopping or browsing.

Everyone! What's more annoying is the the OneNote 2016 inbuilt help says you can do this by pressing ALT+N, S This does not work. It doesn't do anything. I don't understand the logic of not having this feature. If this feature is removed when I upgrade to the Lumia 950 XL I am going to be even more annoyed. This is an option that should be added back. I just upgraded from my Surface Pro 2 to a Surface Pro 4 and to find both the OneNote app and desktop software no longer have the ability to insert an image taken from the camera is crazy.

This feature is one I've used daily for taking photos of construction sites and drawing markups with ink onto the photo. To have to now use a different app (camera) to take the photo and then insert into OneNote ruins the ease of use and for me ruins OneNote.

I had been pushing the Surface Pro and OneNote combo to everyone as THE solution for on-site note taking but removing this feature is hugely disappointing. Now have to look for another note-taking alternative as this is a must-have feature for me. NOTE: when you post comments / suggestions it is best to limit each submission to one issue. That way replies can be specific to that error. And it makes it easier for MS to assign a submission to a specific development group or person. Office in general. Word.

    Excel. PowerPoint.

    Outlook. Office Mix for PowerPoint.

Sway. Windows. Command Prompt PS I suspect there are more, but there is no single “master” page that shows all of the sites, and not even adequate cross links between the sites.

I actually found several just by changing the app name. Some of these sites have options for the various versions of each application, ie Desktop vs Oneline vs Android vs Mac etc. This is a real long shot, but try to install the free 2007 version of OneNote from this free download.

Note, there are known issues trying to run 2016 with other versions of Office apps, but you may get lucky. Do a “Customize install” to select SharePoint / MODI (under Office Tools) / OneNote / or select only “Picture Manger” if that is what you want. SharePoint 2010 Designer - SharePoint 2010 180 trial Note: the free download of SharePoint Designer 2007 includes a few surprising extras:.

OneNote 2007. MODI- MS Office Document Imaging. MS Office Picture Manager. Office Shared Features Clip Organizer (Clipart) NOTE: when one person ran that download it did not include OneNote. I redownloaded and ran it and did see it.

We never did resolve what the cause was. Here are instructions on how to do a Custom install of only selected items from Office setup: Install or remove individual Office programs and components -us/access-help/install-or-remove-individual-office-programs-and-components-HA010354261.aspx (Select only “Picture Manger” if that is what you want.).

When things are bad, you can either: - cuss, - cry or - laugh. Why not choose to laugh. I am late to this as I just updated, regrettably, I only upgraded because I had to replace my surface, and the version of One Note that was already installed, the one with the button, is not working. No, it is not helpful.

When you are in the field, time is money, and the extra steps in the workflow to jump to the camera, then take the shot, then come back, then insert, instead on pressing the camera button, pressing the insert button, and then annotating is unacceptable and probably will lead me to look for a better option. The workflow before was simple and elegant. What I have been given is chunky and costly.

    Compare Onenote To Onenote 2016

One workaround that gets you almost all the way there is to use the native camera app and the OneNote screen clipping function. Open the Camera app and leave it running (Windows Logo Key // type 'Camera' // Enter. Assuming Windows 10) 2. Go back to OneNote (I am using Desktop OneNote 2016) 3. Click on the 'Insert' ribbon 4. Click on 'Screen Clipping' 5. OneNote will minimize leaving the active camera image showing on the screen greyed out 6.

Drag a box around the section of the image you want and it will be dropped into OneNote.

Hello- You asked - What do you mean by the 'old tab' in step 3? You wrote in the initial description of the problem that 'When they click on the link they are sent it takes them to OneNote Online (as is usual) BUT there is no 'open in OneNote' button available'.

This is the 'old tab'. Have them keep this instance of Onenote open. Then -. Go to onenote.com in a new tab. Sign in. Then go back to the old tab original opened Onenote) and Refresh by doing F5. Then you should be able to see the content and the ‘Open in Onenote” button Denise, OneNote Team.

Hello viewers of this thread. Basically this is a limitation; this scenario is not supported.

If your notebook resides in OneDrive and you’re sharing it to a SharePoint user, Open in Client is not supported. This also goes for within SharePoint, if you’re in a different tenant, you cannot share it with someone in a different tenant. What does this mean for you? If you have your OneNote on OneDrive, you should only share to other OneDrive accounts (ie @hotmail @outlook etc). An alternative is to upload that document to a SharePoint account within the same work organization (tenant) and then share it to them. Denise, OneNote Team.
